Meet Patrick Mackey, he is a seasoned dog musher from Fairbanks, Alaska, with an impressive 26 years of experience. His journey into the world of sled dog racing was inspired by his father, Jason Mackey, and his uncle, Lance Mackey, both of whom are renowned figures in the mushing community. Patrick recalls wanting to grow up to be just like them, and it’s clear that he has followed in their footsteps and is mushing with his father and uncle’s kennel Mackey’s Top Notch Racing Kennel.

Patrick’s love for running dogs is all-encompassing. When asked what he loves most about it, his simple yet profound response is, “Everything.” This passion is a testament to his deep connection with the sport and his canine companions.

He is supported by a strong team of sponsors, including Black Gold Transport, Taylored Restoration, Fish On, Wayne & Leane Tomlinson, and Sean & April Gilchrist. These partnerships reflect the strong community backing and belief in Patrick’s skill and dedication to the sport.

Patrick credits his success to the unwavering support of his family, including his fiancée, Tiana Taylor, and his parents, Jason and Lisa Mackey. His children, Opal, Elim, and Lawanna, also serve as sources of inspiration and motivation.

As Patrick prepares to embark on the 2025 Yukon Quest, he carries with him the legacy of his family, the support of his sponsors, and the love from his community, all propelling him forward in this extraordinary race.
