The Yukon Quest Alaska is thrilled to reveal the official logo for the 2025 Race, a heartfelt tribute to a beloved canine athlete and symbol of the enduring spirit of the race. This year’s design draws inspiration from Old Man, a legendary Yukon Quest Champion Canine Athlete whose legacy continues to resonate deeply within the mushing community.
Created by Barbara Gravelin, the YQA Store, Sales, and Events Manager, with her long-standing connection to the Yukon Quest and a personal bond with Old Man, the logo captures the essence of loyalty, endurance, and the profound bond between mushers and their sled dogs. “Because of the love for a very special Yukon Quest Champion Canine Athlete who stole my heart when we first met 19 years ago, I am still involved in the Quest to this day,” shares Barbara. “Old Man is gone, but his bloodline and spirit live on in the race. He watches over his puppies, ensuring they have the skills to protect their mushers and bring them home safely.”
The design serves as a reminder of Old Man’s enduring presence and the profound impact he had on those who knew him. “His spirit and love for his musher, family, and the Yukon Quest are seen and felt every February at the start of the race,” Barbara adds. This logo is a testament to Old Man’s legacy, symbolizing the strength and unity of the mushing community.
The 2025 logo will be showcased on all official race merchandise and promotional materials, allowing fans and participants to carry a piece of Old Man’s spirit with them. It encapsulates the adventure, resilience, and camaraderie that define the Yukon Quest Alaska.
